Donna Fern (Carr) Blair age 84 of Marion, Ohio died peacefully on Sunday morning, October 21, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
On December 19, 1927, Donna was born to the late Daniel and Margaret (Schaber) Carr.
A lifelong resident of Marion, she graduated from Harding High School in the class of 1945.
After a brief courtship, Donna eloped with Virgil L. Blair Sr., on March 5, 1946 to Cattlesburg, KY. In 1996, they renewed their wedding vows after 50 years of marriage. Virgil preceded her in death on April9, 2006.
Besides being a homemaker and raising her children, Donna worked at New Bloomington School, Lawson’s, managed Sally Ann Restaurant and worked with her husband doing lawn care.
A women of deep faith, Donna was active member of Salem Church of God for over 59 years. She was the treasurer for many years, helped with Vacation Bible and along with the women of the Church made quilts for the Navajo Missions in Arizona. Donna was an excellent seamstress and loved to do embroidery. She made ceramics and did other craft projects. She was an avid reader and read the Bible cover to cover every year and an excellent cook.
She will be missed by her daughter, Virginia Bickel; granddaughters, Angela Bickel, Amanda (Mike) Hileman and Anna (Keith) Walker; great granddaughters, Maria, Destinee and Angel; great grandson; K.J.; daughter, Mary Galloway; grandsons, Chad (Kerri) Galloway, Shawn Galloway and Grant Galloway; great granddaughters, Karlee and Caitlyn; son, Leonard (Nancy) Blair Jr.; granddaughter, Melissa; son, George Blair; grandsons, George (Heather) Blair Jr. and Brian Blair; great grandson, Alex; great granddaughter, Isabelle; son, Dennis (Janet) Blair; grandsons, Dennis (Tiffany) Blair Jr. and Philip Blair; great grandson, Mason; great granddaughter, Alana; sister, Lois Kisor; brothers, Floyd (Bonnie) Carr and Dick (Kate) Carr, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; brothers, Franklin, Robert, Daniel and Roger Carr; sisters, Thelma Hogan and Edris Spencer, brother in laws, Dick Hogan, Bob Spencer and Robert Kisor; sister in laws, Louise Carr and Nancy Carr; and special friend, Lillian Bentley.
The Blair family will greet friends from 5 – 7 PM on October 23, 2012 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her homecoming will be held at Salem Church of God, 5754 DeCliff-Big Island Rd., at 11 AM on October 24, 2012 with Pastor Tom Mulholland officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
