Raymond H. “Tater” Auld, age 80, Caledonia, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 28, 2012.
On May 18, 1932, Raymond was born in Marion County, the son of the late Earl and Thelma (Shirk) Auld. He graduated from Claridon High School in the Class of 1950.
Shortly following graduation, Tater proudly served in the U.S. Army, a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
During a furlough, Tater returned home to Marion to marry his classmate and high school sweetheart, Doris Denzer, on January 2, 1953.
For 37 years, Tater worked as a construction supervisor for G.T.E. In his retirement, he ran his own stump removal service for nearly 20 years.
Tater was a member of the Marion Salem United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 7201 and American Legion Post 401 of Caledonia. He enjoyed watching both Men’s and Women’s Ohio State Basketball teams.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Doris Auld of Caledonia; a son, Ron (Kim) Auld of Edison; a daughter, Kanda Irey (Dale Haddad) of Caledonia; three grandchildren: Ashley Auld of Marion, Amber Auld of Mount Gilead, and Cameron Irons of Westerville; two step-grandchildren: Kristen (Eric) Holmes and Phillip Haddad; and 2 great-grandchildren: Quintin and Dawson Pierce of Mount Gilead. Also, will be missed by his dog, Harley.
The Auld family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring his life will follow there at Noon, with Rev. James VanMeter and Pastor Wes Craker officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council will follow in Claridon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
