Carl E. UlineCarl E. Uline, age 83, of Marion, passed away Tuesday morning, October 30, 2012, at his residence.

Carl was born on July 30, 1929 in Marion, the son of the late John B. and B. Florence (Eberhart) Uline.  He graduated from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1947.

On June 2, 1962, Carl married Betty L. Chapman at the First United Methodist Church in Marion.  They shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage.

For 45 years, Carl was employed by Marion Power Shovel as a horizontal lathe operator.  He retired from there in 1991.  He belonged to the Moose Lodge 889 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 337, both in Marion.

Carl was a long time member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church in Marion.

Throughout his life, Carl was an avid league bowler and golfer.  He always cheered for the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.  In recent years, he stayed active by getting involved at the Marion Senior Center.

Carl will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty, of Marion; two daughters: Jane (Don) Throckmorton of Douglasville, GA, Theresa Roebuck of Marion; three grandchildren: Mike (Tiffany) McTaggart of Arizona, Jennifer L. (Danny) Moore of Morral, Caitlin L. Throckmorton of Douglasville, GA; three great grandchildren: Wyatt, Maycee and Skylar; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wally and Bill; a sister, Dorothy; and a grandson, Evan C. Throckmorton.

Carl’s family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  No funeral services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Senior Center, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
