Bernard J. Thiel age 89 of Marion passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Kingston Residence.
Born August 5, 1923 in Kirby, Ohio to the late Orbin S.and M. Bertha (Hunkle) Thiel, Bernard was a self employed farmer and previously worked for Bowen Implement. He was a World War 2 Army Veteran.
On May 29, 1948 he married Agnes E. (Gosche) Thiel; she passed away November 12, 2009.
Bernard was a member of St. Mary Church, a long time church usher, Knights of Columbus member, enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and his portable saw mill.
Bernard is survived by four sons, John (Carol), Michael (Becky), Edward (Becky), Donald (Denise); four daughters, Kathleen (John) Beckley, Marjorie (Barry) Simpson, Cynthia (Terry) Tremains, and Rose (Brian) Hoffman, eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-step grandchildren, one brother, Wilfred (Ruth) Thiel, five sisters, Loretta Kin, Mary (Jack) McDonald, Gertrude Baer, June (Jerry) McAllister, and Elinor Thiel. One brother Eugene Thiel preceded Bernard in death.
Family will receive friends from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors where Parish Prayers will be held at 2PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Mary Church with Father Dwayne McNew officiating. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery.
