Harding Symposium Makes Donation to Ohio Historical Society

Harding Symposium DonationThe Warren G. Harding Symposium Advisory Board at The Ohio State University at Marion recently voted to donate a portion of the proceeds from last summer’s symposium event to the Ohio Historical Society (OHS).

The monetary donation will be used to supplement the Educational Development Fund of the Harding Home State Memorial.  The fund is used for outreach activities engaging school children from central Ohio through in-service classroom instruction and visits to the Harding presidential sites.  Sherry Hall, site manager for the Harding Home, accepted the gift on behalf of the OHS.

Interest in the annual symposium has increased in central Ohio, as well as nationally since the event first began in 2010.  In addition to regional visitors to Marion, the 2012 Harding Symposium, entitled America at a Crossroads: the 1920 Presidential Campaign, attracted an audience from ten states.

The Warren G. Harding Symposium is an academic, social, and cultural exploration of the life and times of America’s 29th president. In partnership with the Ohio Historical Society, Marion Technical College, Marion Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, and Marion County Historical Society, the symposium annually presents in-depth analysis and research by authors, historians, researchers, and experts on the Harding Era and related areas of interest.

The 2013 Warren G. Harding Symposium will take place on July 19-20, 2013.  The theme will be Scandals and the United States Presidency.
