Popcorn Festival Holding Annual Pooch Pageant

The deadline for entering the Marion Popcorn Festival’s 3rd Annual Poppin Pooch Pageant is Friday, August 27.

Canine contestants will compete in three categories: Swimsuit/Team Spirit, Stupid Pet Tricks, and Formalwear/Dress for Success. Bonus points will be awarded for creative use of popcorn and/or use of the 2010 Popcorn Festival theme, “Peace, Love and Popcorn”.

One overall winner will be selected in each competition category, and the contestant with the highest combined score from all three categories will be judged as “Best in Show”.

A separate photogenic contest will be held with awards given in each age division with one overall winner chosen. Contestants may enter one or both competitions, and the results of one competition have no bearing on the other.

The pageant will be held on Saturday, September 11, at 9:00 on the Showcase Stage in front of City Hall. The registration begins at 8:00 a.m.

Entry fee for the Poppin’ Pooch Pageant is $40, and for the photogenic contest, $15. For complete information or to enter, contact Debara Tinnerello at 740-802-3980 go to www.popcornfestival.com.
