Barbara Ann SmithBarbara Ann Smith, age 80, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Barb was born on March 4, 1932 to the late O. Harold and Ann (Fink) Dickerson in Chicago, Illinois.

Barb graduated from Harding High School in the class of 1950.

On December 14, 1952 Barb was united in marriage to Lester Smith at the First Presbyterian Church in Marion.

She spent her career working as a secretary at Dickerson’s Foods.

Barb was outgoing, social and loved life. She belonged to many organizations that included membership at the First Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church Circle of Martha, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Green Acres Golf League and the Classic Car Club.

Barb took pleasure in the outdoors; she loved to golf, garden or just go for a ride in their `57 T-Bird convertible. She and Lester loved to travel and especially enjoyed their winters in Florida together. Above all, Barb was devoted to her family and she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her loving husband Lester; her children: Jerri (Jim) Seckel-Klaus, Linda (the late Douglas) Shank, Julie (Donald) Buck-McKee and Kent (Lynda) Smith; Grandchildren: Tracy (Doug) Wade, Betsy (Aaron) Ballinger, Lauren (Nathan) Smith, Arianne Shank, Austin Warnament, Clayton Smith, Emily Shank and Ben Smith; and great grandchildren: Samantha and Andrew Wade, Knox Smith and Asher Ballinger.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 143 South Prospect, Marion, from 3PM to 6PM; Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday at 10AM with Rev. Rob Howard officiating. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
