Betty “JoAnn” Nolan, 78, of Marion

Betty “JoAnn” NolanBetty “JoAnn” Nolan, was born on March 29, 1934. She entered Heaven’s gates on Thursday, January 24th, 2013.

A consummate mother and homemaker, JoAnn enjoyed spending time with family, cooking meals for her grandkids, and gardening.

Her greatest love was positively shaping the lives of children.  She followed this dream after raising her own kids, and went on to graduate from the Ohio State University in 1994 with a degree in Childhood Psychology and Elementary Education.

She substitute-taught within the Delaware, Ohio public school system for many years and touched numerous lives, known by all as “ Aunt Jo “.

JoAnn has an unwavering faith in God.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Marion, Ohio for close to 30 years.

Over the years, she helped the church grow the children’s nursery, and assisted Sunday services by playing the piano.  She was a member of the church choir and loved to support local families in need.

JoAnn was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, John Marvin Nolan.  She is survived by her son, Jon Nolan & wife Donna, daughters, Marcia Thompson, Teresa Meilstrup & husband John, Cathy Bush & husband Ron, and Amy Elhindi & husband Bashar.

JoAnn is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she cherished:  Jeff & Stephanie Thompson, Spencer Meilstrup, Katie Sanchez & Aaron Bush, Jordan, Loren, Jared, & Cole Nolan – Alex, Zane, & Michael Elhindi; as well as five great grand children.  She also is survived by her two loving brothers, Jerry & Arnold Thrower.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27th, 2013 from 3:00 – 5:00pm at Central Baptist Church located at 2816 Marion – Waldo Road, Marion, Ohio 43302 for a memorial celebrating her life.  Graveside services will be held 11AM, Monday, January 27, 2013 at the Marion Cemetery.
