Police – Two Arrested for Stealing Copper from Marion Home

Marion Police DepartmentThe Marion Police Department says two men were arrested early Wednesday morning after they were caught in the process of stealing copper pipes and wire from a house.

At just before 12:30am on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, Ptl. Jim Fitsko reported being flagged down by a concerned citizen in the 500 block of Mary Street. The person reported a possible burglary in progress in a nearby vacant house. Other officers responded to the scene and they made entry into the house.

Police say they discovered Jackie Byrd, Jr., 30, and Brynnan Seiter, 21, both of Marion, in the basement of the house in the middle of cutting away copper wire and pipes. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident.

The two men were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on charges of Breaking and Entering and Possession of Criminal Tools. The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
