Dorothy Marie GruberDorothy Marie Gruber, 92, joined her husband on February 10, 2013.

She was born on August 13, 1920 to Hurley and Inez (Yager) Price.

She graduated from the Claridon High School at the age of 16 in the class of 1937. Last June, Dorothy attended her 75th Claridon High School Class Reunion, where she was honored.

She married her high school sweetheart, Francis L. Gruber on May 20, 1939.

She was a member of the Marion Community United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Martha Horne Circle. She also was a past member of the Progressive Grange.

Dorothy was a homemaker of a farmer who loved to can and freeze produce, bake (especially dinner and sweet rolls), and sew, which she did until she was 90 years old. She made many lap quilts for her church. Dorothy enjoyed the last 1 ½ years at Sterling House and all of their activities.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Nancy Gruber of Hardy, VA; her daughters: Peggy (Terry) Hafer of LaRue and Judy (Bruce) Carey of Williston, SC; grandchildren: Archie (Janet) Gruber of LaRue, Camron (Melissa) Gruber of Winchester, VA, Mindy (Scott) Meador of Glen Allen, VA, Douglas (Michelle) Hafer of LaRue, Jan (Michael) Claborn of Colorado Springs, CO, Shawn (Mary) Carey of Aiken, SC and Sara (Matthew) Howard of Lake Wylie, SC; and 8 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Francis, of 52 years, who died on August 13, 1991, and her son Lonnie L. Gruber who died on August 31, 2004.

Visitation will be held tonight, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 5PM to 8PM; Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM with Pastor Jarrod Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Claridon Cemetery.
