Dale F. Lord, age 89, of Marion, died Tuesday morning, February 26, 2013, at the Marion General Hospital following an extended illness.
On April 5, 1923, Dale was born at home in Marion, Ohio, the oldest of four children of the late Harry S. Lord and Mabel (Pine) Lord.
Leaving school early to join the military, Dale was veteran of the U.S. Army and served his beloved country in World War II.
Upon his honorable discharge, Dale returned to his hometown of Marion, where he worked as a painter both independently and for the Postell’s.
With a love for the outdoors, Dale enjoyed both fishing and hunting as often as he could.
A kind and gentle soul, Dale cared deeply for his family and was always there for them. He also was a man of deep Christian faith.
Dale will be dearly missed by his brother, John Lord of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Lord; and sister, Carollee Flesher.
Services honoring Dale’s life will be observed on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at his graveside in Marion Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council and Pastor Tim McGuire officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion County United Veterans Council and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
