Constance E. “Connie” Gibson, 99, of Marion

Constance E. “Connie” Gibson, age 99, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, August 31, 2010, at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky following an extended illness.

On July 24, 1911, Connie was born, one of five children of the late George and Oliva (Ploch) Reinwald.  She graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1929.

Shortly after graduation, Connie began working as a legal secretary for Attorney Frank William Wiedmann where she worked for many years.  Though during World War II, she helped in the war efforts by working at the Depot.

In 1934, Connie married the love of her life, Myron C. Gibson.  Together they shared a love for golfing, watching sports and playing in bridge clubs with their friends.  He preceded her in death on April 27, 1972.

A woman of deep faith, Connie was an active and supportive life member of the Salem United Church of Christ.  Also, she was involved in the willing workers class within the church.

Always giving back to her community, Connie was a life member of the Marion County Historical Society, and a member of the Edward Huber Memorial Association, AARP, Marion Senior Center, and PCAA.  She also was a volunteer for the Community MedCenter Hospital.

Even after losing Myron, Connie continued with her love for golf, golfing in several leagues until she was 88 years young.  She also was an avid bowler.

Her favorite pastime, Connie looked forward every day to the Marion Star crossword puzzle.  She and her friend, Barb Dickason, would make sure they worked through every line together until it was complete.

Lovingly referred as “the General”, Connie was known to be particular.  Nevertheless, she also had a wonderful sense of humor.

A gracious host, Connie most loved her time spent with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her sister, Eileen Price; sister-in-law, Velma Reinwald, both of Marion; eight nieces and nephews: Judy (Dick) King of Michigan, Bruce Reinwald of Illinois, Todd Reinwald of Oregon, Sharon Rafferty of Illinois, Gary Price of California, Keith Reinwald of South Carolina, Valerie (Craig) Werner of Columbus, and Melanie (Randy) Ross of Waldo; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
