A Marion County Sheriff’s Office K-9 helped officers find a large amount of heroin and prescription pills on Tuesday and let to the arrest of a Detroit man for drug trafficking.

On April 23, 2013 at 3:30pm MARMET/METRICH officers “made contact” with a man from the Detroit, Michigan area. Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Christy Utley and

then conducted a drug sniff of the subjects’ book bag. Investigators say Kilo alerted to the bag and a search revealed the presence of a large amount of Heroin and Percocet pills.

This subject was identified as Demitrius Clanton, 25 of Detroit, Michigan. Clanton was arrested for Trafficking in Heroin and Prescription pills and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center. The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.

Investigators say they seized 580 bindles of heroin and 210 30 mg Percocet pills. The drugs had a street value of about $18,000.
