The unemployment rate for Marion County dropped over a half percent in April 2013 to 7.0 percent, down from 7.6 percent in March 2013. The decrease comes as 200 people reported finding employment, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).
The local April 2013 rate is also lower than it was a year ago when it stood at 7.5 percent.
All of the counties surrounding Marion also saw decreases in their rate.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 7.0 percent in April 2013, down from 7.1 percent in March as nonfarm wage and salary employment increased 7,600 over the month. The April unemployment rate for Ohio was down from 7.3 percent in April 2012.
The U.S. unemployment rate for April was 7.5 percent, down from 7.6 percent in March and down from 8.1 percent in April 2012.
