Virginia “Ginny” Thacker, age 77, of Marion, died Thursday morning, May 30, 2013, at Marion Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Virginia was born in Cardington, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Earl Calbert and Donna Ruth (Geckley) Calbert of Marion.
Virginia obtained her LPN license in 1965 and furthered her education by receiving her RN degree from Marion Technical College. For many years Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse at Marion General Hospital and upon her retirement from the hospital she worked in many area nursing homes.
Virginia will be dearly missed by her three children: Roxanna (Harry) Thacker Fry of Franklin Furnace, OH, Douglas (Ruth) Thacker of Marion, Richard (Beverly) Thacker of Portsmouth, VA; four grandchildren: Paige, Brooks, and Drew Fry, and Megan Thacker; 9 great grandchildren; her mother, Donna Calbert; two sisters: Norma (Ernie) Denny and Judie Thompson all of Marion.
In addition to her father, Virginia was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Thacker; a sister, Shirley Connelly; a brother, James “Doc” Calbert; and a brother-in-law, Dennie Thompson.
Per Virginia’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
