Government Office Closings for July 4th Holiday

Several changes and closings have been announced for area government offices and services in observance of the 2013 4th of July holiday.

Mayor Scott Schertzer is announcing the following closures for the City of Marion on Thursday, July 4, 2013:

  • All offices in City Hall will be closed.
  • Sanitation crews will not work on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Residents who normally have Thursday sanitation service are asked to have their collections at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5. Sanitation crews will collect both Thursday and Friday’s refuse on Friday.
  • Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on July 4, 2013. Transit service will also be closed on Friday, July 5, 2013.
  • The Marion Senior Center will be closed on July 4, 2013. The Center will re-open on Friday, July 5.
  • Necessary services including fire, police, and airport will operate as usual.

All divisions of Marion Public Health will be closed on Thursday, July 4th. The closing will include the WIC office and the Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing, Vital Statistics and Administrative Divisions.

The Marion County Commissioners announced that the Marion County Building and the Marion County Courthouse will all be closed on Thursday and Friday, July 4 and 5.
