Jeremy Scott “Scooter” McGuirk, age 21, of Mount Gilead, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, July 9, 2013.
On October 30, 1991, Jeremy was born in Pinellas Park, Florida, the son of Jeffery Scott and Melissa Ann (Metz) McGuirk. He attended Highland High School, worked on his HVAC certification at Tri-Rivers, and obtained his GED in 2010.
Jeremy was an HVAC technician for Northland Refrigeration in New Albany. His dad took him under his wing, teaching him the ins and outs of the business.
Jeremy was an energetic, spontaneous, fun loving young man. While growing up he loved to go skateboarding. Paintball then became his passion in life. He competed in numerous tournaments winning many trophies. He enjoyed being with his friends, hip hop music, and the special relationship he shared with his little sister, Jada. Jeremy may have experienced some troubled times over the years, but he always shared his love with family and friends and they will forever miss him.
He will be dearly missed by his parents, Jeff and Melissa McGuirk of Mount Gilead; his brother, Sgt. Joshua (Jessica) Metz of Eugene, Oregon; two sisters: Jessica Metz and Jada McGuirk, both of Mount Gilead; paternal grandparents, Malcolm and Leona McGuirk of Superior, Wisconsin; maternal grandparents, Janet Boyd of Ashley and Carl (Jeanie) Metz of Columbus; three nieces: Jalynn, Ammara, and Brylie; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his canine companion, Kilo.
The McGuirk family will greet friends from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring his life will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Rupp officiating.
