Vivian Ann McEntire, age 79, of Marion, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Marion General Hospital.
Vivian was born on July 20, 1933 to the late Charles J. and Lillian M (Bode) McDonough in Marion, Ohio.
On November 26, 1955 she married Marvin E. ‘Mac’ McEntire who preceded her in death on January 28, 2006.
Vivian graduated St. Mary’s High School in 1951 and then graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph College of Nursing in Cincinnati in 1955. Vivian worked and taught as a registered nurse for 30 years at Marion General Hospital.
She was a member of St. Mary Church, where she formerly sang in the choir, played organ, assisted with the St. Mary’s Bereavement Committee and St. Vincent De Paul. Also, Vivian was a past the secretary for the US Open Drum and Bugle Corps Commission. Both Mac and Vivian participated as chaperones and volunteers for the Marion Cadets, Mac drove and painted the bus while Vivian was the corps nurse from 1964 until 1978.
Vivian loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, watching Notre Dame Football and was lovingly known as ‘Mom’ by many.
Vivian is survived by children, Mark A. (JoEllen Abate) McEntire, of Walnut Creek, California; Rita M. McEntire, of Columbus, OH; Sheila M. McEntire, her children, Chelsea and Ryan, of Hercules, California; Theresa A. (Timothy) Granlee, and their children, Austin, Jeremy, Ryan (Beth), their son Tristan, Tyler, and Taylor; Dan (Kelly) McEntire, their children, Skylar, Spencer, Stephen of Waldo, Rachel, her child Mitchell, Montana, Devon, and Tyler, of Columbus. She is preceded in death by one half-sister Genevieve Darst.
Visitation will be held from 4PM until 8PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Parish Prayers at 4:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Buffer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
