Wilma “Nan” Fay Campbell Pennington Ball, age 75, of Edison, passed away on Thursday morning, July 25, 2013 at the Woodside Village in Mount Gilead.
Nan was born on December 30, 1937 in Johnson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Bascom and Ada (Kimbler) Campbell. In October of 1967, Nan moved to Edison, Ohio, and enjoyed the rest of her life there.
Nan had a servant’s heart and worked tirelessly over the years at the Morrow County Mental Health Center, No Limits Outreach Program and as a babysitter.
Nan was known for many things, she had a large collection of cast iron skillets, cookware, and elephants. She loved to bake and cook. For birthdays, she would always bake a 20 pound Hershey chocolate cake from scratch. She won many awards over the years at the fair for her delicious food. She was also talented as a quilter and did crochet work as well. She loved gardening and her flowers, especially hollyhocks and red roses. Picking raspberries and canning was something she enjoyed as well. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty and enjoyed to fish, hunt, and could skin a deer better than most.
Nan will most certainly be remembered for the exceptional woman she was. She graciously received anyone she met with open arms. If someone needed a meal, she fed them; if they needed clothes, she dressed them; if they needed a place to sleep, she gave them a bed. She gave of her time, talents and resources freely.
She will be remembered by her children: Penny (Rick) Pennington Lewis and Arthur (Kim McFarland) Pennington; her grandchildren: Amanda (Matthew Underwood) West, Nicole (Lawson White) Lewis, Kelsey (Eric Reynolds) Lewis, Sarah Louise Riley and Joshua Dane Ladd; her great grandchildren: Alison West, Dalton Lewis and Caden; Siblings: Beatrice Castle, Earl Campbell, Delia Bunker, Ferrell Campbell, Roberta Castle, Harold Campbell and Darrell Campbell.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Arthur Pennington and Hamp “Sonny” Ball, Jr. and siblings: Alice Fletcher and William Campbell.
