Helen Caroline Owen, age 93 of Marion, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013.
She was born on July 28, 1919 in Bridgeport, Ohio to the late Carl and Anna(Schuster) Conway. Moving to Marion in 2010, she was originally from the Bellepoint area.
Helen served as a secretary at Ohio Wesleyan University 23 years until her retirement in 1983. She married Bernard Owen in 1942 and together they shared 55 wonderful years until his passing on October 18, 1997.
Active in the Bellepoint community, Helen was member of the Bellepoint UMC in Bellepoint, as well as the former Bellepoint Pythian Sisters, Riverside Grange, Bellepoint Seniors, the Riverside Garden Club and a 4-H adviser.
She spent nearly 30 winters in Bradenton, Florida making many friendships and serving as the secretary for the Ohio Day at her park, Trailer Estates.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 2 daughters; Carol(John)White of Marion and Rebecca J. “Becky”(Stuart)Owen-Wilms of Westerville, grandchildren; Abby Wilms, Glenn Wilms, and Sara (David) Quart, step-grandchildren; John (Kim), Greg, Gary (Kelsie), Laura, and Cynthia White.
She was also preceded in death by a brother Herbert Conway, and a step-grandson Jeff White.
Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E. Center St. in Marion. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.
