Mary Margaret Simmons, lifelong resident of Marion, passed away at the age of 91 on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the home of her son.
Mary Margaret was born to Robert and Bernadine (Walsh) Johnston on June 8, 1922.
On August 7, 1943 Mary Margaret became the beloved wife of Thomas D. Simmons; he preceded her in death on October 26, 2007.
Mary Margaret worked for many years at the Vine Street Market. She enjoyed reading books and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. Mary Margaret and Tom loved to go to the horse races.
Mary Margaret leaves behind loving children Robert ‘Bo’ (Marti) Simmons of Marion and Sharon (Richard) Behrman of Cincinnati, OH, dear grandchildren, Ronald (Amy) Behrman of Mason, OH, Julie (Chris) McGraw of West Chester, OH, Jill (David) Weimer of Urbana, OH, Jennifer Simmons of Columbus, OH, Jeffrey (Jamie) Simmons of Plain City, OH, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings Robert Johnston and Eileen (Johnston) White.
Friends may call Monday, September 9, 2013 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors from 6 until 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church 10AM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 with Father Thomas Buffer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
