Bob Houston went to his heavenly home Saturday, September 21, 2013 surrounded by his family after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 17, 1954, the son of Ishel and Eva Houston, who preceded him in death.
Bob was employed by POET as their Maintenance Planner. He was an active member of Prospect Street United Methodist Church where he loved to sing in the choir and visit those in the nursing home weekly. Bob’s passion in life was helping others whether it be through Mission Work around the country or on call for any one in need. He had a strong love for Christ and His Church and inspired many to do the same.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (VanMeter), daughter Holly (Gabe) Meister; sons Ryan (Hilary) Houston and Josh (fiancée Romina Andrei) Houston; and 5 grandchildren whom he cherished. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Virginia “Annie” (Dave) Ralph, Darlene Houston and Debbie James; and 3 brothers Jim (Arlene) Houston, Bill (Sharon) Houston and David Houston.
Calling hours will be at Prospect Street United Methodist Church, 185 S Prospect Street, Marion on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 4PM to 7PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the church at 10AM with Rev. Nancy Goulet officiating, burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Prospect Street United Methodist Church which will be used for future mission teams.
