John A. Berridge, 85, of Marion, Ohio went to be with his Lord on October 2, 2013.
He was born December 5, 1927 to the late Cornelius and Catherine (Tedrow) Berridge of Marion.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty (Cochran) Berridge. They were married on October 28, 1949 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Mission in Caledonia, Ohio.
John is also survived by six children – Nancy (Frank) Shamblin of Kenton, John R. (Debbie) Berridge of Upper Sandusky; Christine (James) Grimes of Marion; Julie (Rickie) Slone of Van Cleave, Mississippi; Timothy (Sherril) Berridge of Worthington; Andrew (Christie) Berridge of Marion. 13 grandchildren – Toby (Kandi) Shamblin, Angie Atzbach, Joshua Berridge, Ashley Berridge, Brian Walker, Seth (Julie) Grimes, Joseph Grimes, Matthew Slone, Mark Slone, Hannah Berridge, Tim Berridge, Bradley Berridge and Eric Krassow. Three great-grandchildren Blythe Atzbach, Elise Atzbach and Marissa Slone. He is survived by two sisters, Isabelle “Izzy” Darnell and Lucille “Tilly” Reamy and was preceded in death by his brothers George Berridge, Donald Berridge, Francis Berridge, Robert Berridge and his sisters Mary Koontz and Alice “JoAnne” Mull.
John worked at Tecumseh Products for 37 years and at Ohio Air for seven years. As a young man he also worked the family farm in Iberia, Ohio.
John’s life is memorialized for his devotion to his wife, family and for his love of music, which was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. They all honor him for the gifts and talents he passed on to them.
Family will receive friends Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 at St Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
