Stephen Stanley Snell, age 58, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Delaware, passed away at home Sunday October 20, 2013. He was lovingly known as “Uncle Stevie”, “Pops”, or “Steve”.
Stevie was born on March 9, 1955 to the late Donald H. and Mary F. G. (Day) Snell. He was born in the village of Bradford in Darke County, Ohio, the youngest of 6 children.
He lived in Delaware, Ohio, most of his life, and in July of this year moved to Mount Gilead, Ohio.
He attended schools in Delaware and Olentangy High School. His places of employment included Ranco, Donato’s Pizza, and he worked as an apartment manager.
Stevie enjoyed gardening and had a farm stand to sell fresh fruits and vegetables. During the Holidays he sold fresh cut Christmas trees from his home in Cardington. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, drawing pictures, fishing, camping and surfing the internet.
He loved his family, friends and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Stevie will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; 2 brother-in-laws: David Penn of Galion, and Howard Pratt of Gahanna; a sister-in-law, Barb Snell of Columbus; a step-son Chuck Sexton of Chesterville; a step-daughter, Lori (Seth) Detter of Delaware; and numerous step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his siblings, 3 sisters: Anita Penn, Irene Pratt and Rosemary Snell; and 2 brothers: Donald Snell and Gary Snell.
Services for Stevie will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to assist his family with funeral expenses.
