Mary M. Bauer, of Marion, passed away at home Friday, November 8, 2013. Born to Ed and Lula DeMongeot in Whittaker, MI; she married John Bauer in Huntington, Indiana in 1940. In 1963 the Erie transferred John to Marion.
She worked at the Agricultural Stabilization Office until retiring in 1980. They discovered the joy of winters in a small park in Florida and summers in Marion. John passed in 1996.
She was of a generation of women who lived through the Great Depression and World War II, and without being asked, shouldered the responsibility of greeting each day with a cheerful, loving, kind and optimistic attitude, not only for their families, but to hold and heal a sad tired nation. Holding and healing us they did, for all the rest of their lives. By any definition or measure as a mother and a good person, she was about perfect.
Mary leaves sons John of Huntington, Indiana, David, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and their families, and son Jim, of Marion.
A private graveside will be held. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are handling arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gunderhallandfolk.com.
