Elizabeth Louise Curren, 99, formerly of Marion

Elizabeth Louise CurrenElizabeth Louise Curren, 99, of Perrysburg, Ohio, died in her home on Sunday, November 3, 2013. She was formerly of Palm Coast, Florida, and Marion, Ohio.

Elizabeth was born to Ambrose and Irene Bufford in Marion, Ohio and spent most of her life there.

Elizabeth married Richard Lyles Curren in 1941, and they lived in Marion until retirement took them to Palm Coast. Richard preceded her in death in 1999, after 58 years of marriage.

Elizabeth was active in church throughout her life. Not only was she always involved in various church groups, wanting to share her love of God with others, she also used her musical training by playing the organ for several different denominations in both Ohio and Florida. She enjoyed leading and participating in bible study groups, and was particularly interested in CRHP, which she joined later in life at Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg, Ohio.  Elizabeth had also been the bookkeeper at Emanuel Lutheran Church, prior to moving to Florida.

Elizabeth had been active with the Lions Club as a Lioness, which was enjoyed by both her and Richard. In fact, all of her life was spent in doing for others. While her children were growing up, she was active in Scouting, both for Boy Scouts and for Girl Scouts. She enjoyed volunteering and helping with many worthy causes.

Elizabeth enjoyed reading mysteries, gardening, and watching golf and baseball games with her friends and husband. But her real passion in life was learning. Whether it was history, astronomy, a class with her Elder College friends at Terra State Community College, or during a program/trip with the Zoar

Young at Heart, she enjoyed all during her later years in life.

Elizabeth is survived by her son Rodger (Judy) of Gaithersburg, MD., her daughter Lynette (Kevin) Sullivan of Perrysburg, OH., and her grandchildren, David (Amy) Curren, Stephen Curren, Megan Sullivan, Brian (Emily) Sullivan, and Kyle Sullivan.

A memorial service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S Prospect St, Marion, OH on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. Visitation with family to occur prior and after the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E River Rd Perrysburg, Ohio; the Radio Fund at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Marion, Ohio; the Cunningham Elder College Endowment Fund at Terra State Community College, Fremont, Ohio; the Altar Guild Fund at Zoar Lutheran Church; or to the Eye Research Fund through your local Lions Club.
