Poll Shows 50 Percent Approval Rate for Ohio Governor

Ohio Governor John KasichA poll of registered voters in Ohio found half approve of the job Gov. John Kasich is doing, but that they are generally displeased by the performance of those in Washington.

When asked about the economy, 44 percent thought Kasich had made things better.

The poll, conducted by the Mercyhurst Center for Applied Politics, asked voters about their views of Kasich, President Barack Obama, House Speaker John Boehner, Democrats in Congress and Republicans in Congress.

Fifty percent said they approved of the job Kasich was doing. The other half were split, with 35 percent disapproving of his job performance and 15 percent saying they didn’t know.

Respondents gave Obama a 33 percent approval rating. Among the rest, 59 percent said they disapproved.

Republicans and Democrats, in general, fared poorly. Twenty-six percent said they approved of the job Democrats were doing in Congress. Twenty-two percent approved of the GOP job performance.
