Robert S. Moore, 82, formerly of Marion

Robert S. MooreRobert S. Moore, age 82, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at The Carlisle House in Bucyrus. “Bob” was born in Marion on January 23,1931 to Guy and Helen (Deibold) Moore.

Bob was a hardworking, honest man and spent most of his life living and working in the Marion area.  Robert was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War, helping to keep our country safe.

After serving in the Army, Robert worked at The Marion Power Shovel.  While there, he met his wife of 60 years, Betty Flesher. They had three sons Allan, Stephen, and David.  Bob and Betty raised their three boys in rural, Marion County. They spent many wonderful years together on their farm, enjoying the laid back, country life. Betty passed away on September 22, 2013.

Bob had a long career as a foreman with Armco Steel.  After taking early retirement, Bob became a school bus driver for Ridgedale Schools.  His favorite career began later in life, when he started working for Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission. He loved working with his extended OHCAC family. While at OHCAC, he drove a bus for the Head Start program. “Mr. Bob” would do whatever it took to keep multiple facilities up and running.  Whether it was building office furniture, negotiating maintenance projects, or making sure the sidewalks and grounds were safe for everyone on those frigid, snowy, winter mornings, Bob would tackle every task given to him. He always gave a 110 percent. He was loved by all of his work family, and will dearly missed.

Bob was a gifted individual, who could fix or build anything.  He would drop whatever he was doing day or night to help anyone in need.  He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fly fishing, and carp fishing on the Sandusky River. For a number of years,  Bob was one the premiere horseshoe pitchers, softball players, and bowlers in the area.  He collected many trophies in each sport.  Additionally, he enjoyed golfing with his friends and sons on the local courses.

Bob will be dearly missed by his family. Which includes, grandchildren Tatium and Trey Moore and daughters-in-law Sue, Jane, and Traci.
