Ruby J. Hall, age 87, formerly of Marion, Ohio was promoted to glory on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Community Health Partners Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio.
Ruby was born September 17, 1927 in Prospect, Ohio.
She was a faithful soldier and volunteer of The Salvation Army Corps in Marion, Ohio, Piqua, Ohio and, most recently, the corps in Van Wert, Ohio for a combined 44 years. She was the adult Sunday School teacher and the League of Mercy Secretary of the Marion, Ohio Corps for many years sharing the word of God with her students, shut-ins, and those living in nursing homes. She loved the Christmas Toy Program and ringing the bells at the red kettles during the holidays.
Ruby brought up her children with all of them participating in Salvation Army programs. On Sunday mornings she walked her children to the corps for Sunday School and the worship services. Two of them became Salvation Army officers (pastors).
Ruby was a member of The Order of the Silver Star, the members of which are mothers of Salvation Army officers.
She is survived by six children, Bruce Wilson of Omaha, Nebraska; Mark (Tammy) Hall of Marion, Ohio; Major Margaret (Ron) Starnes of Warren, Pennsylvania; Major Judy (Arthur) Barter of Van Wert, Ohio; Paula (Tom) Lowry of Marion, Ohio; and Brad Hall of Marion, Ohio. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A son, Clair Wilson, and a grandson, Samuel J. Hall, preceded Ruby in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at The Salvation Army, 317 W. Church St. in Marion under the direction of Major Phil Tamayo.
