Leonard L. Bauer, age 89, of Marion, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Leonard was born in Marion on January 7, 1924, the son of the late Christopher and Alpha O. (Fox) Bauer.
He attended Harding High School and graduated in the class of 1941. He proudly served his county during World War II in the United States Navy. He is retired as a Tool and Die Maker at Tecumseh Products for over 40 years. Leonard was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Marion.
He is survived by his special friend Betty (Pearson) Smith; his devoted children: Dianna L. (Wayne) Collins of Marion, Charles L. (Diana Horvath) Bauer of Dayton and Kristine L. Mantey of Charleston, SC; Grandchildren: Sheila (Nathan) Plant, David Collins, James (Sarah) Collins, Katelin (Rob) Ahern and Tom Mantey; 5 great grandchildren; Sisters: Florence (Carl) Neville and Virginia “Jean” (the late Delbert) Darnell and friend Jean Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen V. (Cox) Bauer; and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion from 3PM to 5PM; Funeral services will be held on Friday at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 241 S. Prospect Street, at 2PM with Associate in Ministry Kevin Kehn officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
