Donald W. Dunaway, age 80, of Marion, OH passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014, at 8:15 a.m. at his residence.
He was born in Newark, Ohio on March 18, 1933 to Randall Dunaway and Francis (Norris) Dunaway Broseus.
Don served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951-1954.
On June 22, 1956 in Newark, OH, Don married the former Naomi E. Leslie and she survives in Marion.
He retired in 1998 from Fairfield Engineering in Marion after 31 years of service as a purchasing agent. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge #889, the AmVets, American Legion Post #888, and a past member of Masonic Lodge #70.
Don was an avid Buckeye fan,enjoyed gardening, fishing, and listening to his extensive music collection. He and Naomi enjoyed over 35 years of Friday night card games with their dear friends; Donald & Norma Saxton.
Surviving along with his wife are their 5 children: Debbie (John) Engle, Mike (Corinna) Dunaway, Tom (Margie) Dunaway, David Dunaway, & Karen (Jody) Hunt, 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, brothers; Dale Broseus, John Broseus, Parry Broseus, Philip Broseus, and sister; Margaret Gannaway. Don was preceded in death by a brother; Harold Bradley and a grandson; Brian Engle.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Marion Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Marion County Veterans Council.
