Ronald G. Spears, Sr., age 66 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Saturday January 11, 2014 at the Marion General Hospital.
He was born July 17, 1947 in Marion to the late Homer and Eva (Austin) Spears.
On April 8, 1994 in Marion he married Carol J. Gattshall and she survives.
Ronald was retired from the J.G. Clark Co. He was an avid O.S.U. Sports Fan and loved his flea market adventures and collecting diecast cars, etc.
Ron leaves behind his wife as well as six daughters and three sons; Dawn (Brian) Jenner of Marion, Ohio, Mindy Spears of Marion, Ohio, Betty (John) Steinman of Lima, Ohio, Tammy Thacker of Marion, Ohio, Barbara Edler of Marion, Ohio, Abbey Shirtzinger of Marion, Ohio, Daniel Shirtzinger of Marion, Ohio, Ronald G. Spears, Jr., of Marion, Ohio, and James (Natalie) Spears of Marion, Ohio. Twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren survive along with three sisters and one brother; Sheryl Boggs of Marion, Ohio, Carolyn (Walt) Wilson of Marion, Ohio, Marlene (Bob) Black of Marion, Ohio, Stanley Spears of Marion, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Pamela Lamb-Hart. Burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from 6 to 7 P.M.
