Barbara (Oiler) Litell Thomas age 83 of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Heartland of Marion.
She was born October 29, 1930 in Marion, Ohio to the late Leslie R. and Mary E. (Kidner) Oiler.
On February 28, 1948 she married Ivan E. Litell, he preceded her in death on February 20, 1991.
She earned a GED in 1968, then attended Nursing School after which she began a nursing career that lasted 27 years, having worked for Marion General Hospital, Smith Clinic, Marion Health Department, Delaware Health Department and Mt. Gilead Health Department before retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Mary) Litell of Marion, Oh., Kevin (Bonnie) Litell of Marion, Oh., Brian (Yvonne) Litell of Germantown, Md., Shawn (Teresa) Litell of Marion, Oh., Patrick (Michelle) Litell of Marion, Oh., daughters, Brenda Miller of Upper Sandusky, Oh., Karen (George) Crose of Mansfield, Oh., her brother, Rudy Oiler of Killbuck, Oh., 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Litell, her brother, Delbert Oiler, 2 sisters, Anna Wolford and Eileen Smith and her 2nd husband, Bill Thomas.
Barbara’s wish upon her death was to donate her body as an anatomical gift to the Ohio State School of Medicine, the Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.
She will be greatly missed by family, friends and relatives.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, January 18, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church @ 10 AM with Father Louis Iasiello officiating.
