Gale “Gayle” E. Rollison, 89, of Marion

Gale “Gayle” E. Rollison, age 89, of Marion passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. in his home.

He was born on April 17, 1924 in Marion, Ohio to Cedric Blair and Helen Louise (Hart) Rollison.

He married the former Betty Jane Gibbs in Greenup, Kentucky on October 22, 1946 and she survives in Marion.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Gayle served in the U.S.Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 605, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22, and VFW Post 7201. His Naval Unit was Cub Ten U.S.Navy 3115. Gayle and a shipmate organized a yearly U.S. Naval Reunion which has lasted for the past 41 years and he has never missed an event.

He was employed for 26 years as a Marion City Police Officer, retiring in 1979.

The lifelong Marion resident is survived by his wife; Betty, 2 sons; Shane Michael (Barbara) Rollison of Midlothian, Va. & Rex Allen Rollison of Edgewater, Fl., a daughter; Joy Sheppard of Aldie, Va., a brother; Leonard L. (Joanne) Rollison of Marseilles, Oh., a sister; Marilyn Joy Bonsel of Marion, Oh., 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Gayle was preceded in death by a son; Terry Lee Rollison, 4 brothers, and 1 sister.

Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. Pastor Richard Farmer will conduct the funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Marion County Veterans Council.
