Ralph William Standley Jr. went to rest October 14, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 8, 1917 in Franklin County to the late Ralph and Marguerite (Vault) Standley. He was raised in Central Ohio and Marathon, NY.
Ralph married the love of his life Thelma (Fisher) Standley on Sept. 3, 1937. They were blessed with four children: Ralph III (Marcia, deceased) of Marion; Doug; deceased (Ann) of Dublin; Larry (Barb) of Cardington; and Carol (Gary) House of Marengo. Ralph was very proud of his ten grandchildren: Kyle, Trent, Cindy, Brooke, Megan, Luke, Sarah, Katie, Bryn, and Brittany and numerous great-grandchildren.
In his early years, Ralph worked at the family bakery and at the Timken Roller Bearing Company. He and Thelma moved their family to Marengo in 1950 where he farmed and sold real estate. Ralph was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church for many years and was an avid fan of Ohio State University sports and the Cincinnati Reds and St.Louis Cardinals. He loved the music of the Big Bands that he and Thelma spent several years dancing to. They enjoyed many evenings out to dinner with Thelma’s sister Jayne and husband George Roloson. Most of all, Ralph loved spending time with his family and friends, telling stories.
He is also preceded in death by in laws Elmer and Annetta Fisher; siblings Vera Jones, Helen Keck-Shoemaker, Winona Standley, Clarence Standley. Ralph leaves a legacy of love that spanned 73 years of marriage and 93 years of life.

Friends may call 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Services will be held Monday 2:00 p.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Antolik officiating, burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
