Anne M. DeForest, 60, of Cardington

Anne M. DeForest, age 60, of Cardington, died Saturday evening, February 1, 2014, at the Marion General Hospital following an extended illness.

On June 21, 1953, Anne was born in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Moran and Mary (Weincek) Harris.  She graduated from Streetsboro High School in the Class of 1970 and furthered her education by receiving her Associates Degree in 1993 in Medical Laboratory Technology from Marion Technical College.

Anne married John W. DeForest on December 23, 1972.  They shared over 22 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in a car accident in 1994.

Anne worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician at the Marion General Hospital for 13 years.

She was an avid reader who also enjoyed mythology, cooking, and traveling, especially the trip she took to England.  Most people knew her for her outspoken personality, her colorful tattoos, and the unique personality she possessed.

Anne is survived by three children: James (Jennifer) DeForest of Marion, Sarah (Cory) Gutenschwager of Lapeer, MI, John (Missy Radel) DeForest of Ashley; two grandchildren: Phillip Gutenschwager and Richard Anderson; and one brother, Stan (Roni) Harris of Cleveland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph T. “Joe” DeForest in 2012; and a brother, George Harris.

The DeForest family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead.  A service celebrating her life will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m. with Woody Bagwell officiating.

Memorial contributions in Anne’s memory may be made to Morrow County EMS, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
