This will be the 17th year in a row the Marion Women’s Business Council has chosen a woman of distinction to receive its annual ATHENA sculpture. The prestigious sculpture will be presented on Monday, March 10, 2014 to one of six nominees from the Marion area whom have been noted to excel in leadership and encouragement as well as participate in community service.
This year’s nominees include Winnie Brewer, Phyllis Butterworth, Karen Herr, Theresa Lubke, Julie McGinnis and Beth Meadows.
The program is slated to start with social time at 11:00 a.m. in the Harding Room in TRECA.
The luncheon event will showcase the nominees as well as offer motivation by nationally known speaker Elizabeth Hagen. Her topic will exemplify many of the values the ATHENA leadership model is based upon: The Authentic Self, Relationships, Giving Back, Collaboration, Courageous Acts, Learning, Fierce Advocacy, Celebration and Joy.
There will be a special silent auction held, with the all proceeds going to the ATHENA recipient’s charity of choice. Modern Woodman hopes again to match all funds raised.
Reservations can be made by calling Jeri Hartshorn 740-387-6312 or Jean Obenour 740-387-3788. The lunch price for this special event will be $18 with the deadline for reservations Monday, March 3.
