James Russell Smith, 83, Marion, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at his residence.
He was born to the late Alton John David Smith and Helen Pauline Hammitt on March 26, 1927 in Hardin County.
James worked as a fireman for CSX Railroad, a former owner of Marion News Agency, and retired from Nissan in 1990. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as golfing.
James is survived by his wife, Darlana (Marvin) Smith; sister-in-law, Rosalie Marvin; brother-in-law, Harry Marvin; children, Victor (Marion) Smith, Mike (Sherry) Smith, Gary Smith, David Smith, Charles Mohren, Victoria (Byron) Palmer, Pamela Crissinger, Carol (Franklin) Helms; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Private services will be observed by the family. Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors are assisting the family with the burial arrangements.
