Deputies Sieze Drugs, Make Two Arrests Following Overdose

Marion County SheriffThe Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a call on Thursday reporting a drug overdose resulted in the seizure of drugs and cash and the arrest of two men, one from Marion, the other from Detroit.

On March 20, 2014 at 8:55PM, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Comfort Inn, 256 Jamesway Drive, about a person possibly overdosing on drugs. Deputies responded and one person was transported to the hospital.

After a brief investigation, a search warrant was obtained and then executed by deputies and MARMET Drug Task Force detectives for a room at the hotel. Investigators say they located 28 bundles of heroin in the bathroom and 10 bundles of cocaine in the toilet. Officials say other drugs were found throughout the room for a total seizure of approximately 24 grams of heroin, 34 grams of cocaine and 2 grams of marijuana. Also seized was $362 in cash.

Preston Cowell, 28, of 5461 Columbus-Sandusky Road N, Marion, was arrested for possession of heroin. Chavez Marquay Davard Triplett, 26, of Detroit, was arrested for tampering with evidence, possession of heroin and cocaine, obstructing and possession of marijuana.
