Arnold Triplett, age 88, of Marion, left for his home in Heaven, Sunday, March 23, 2014, as he was surrounded by his family at Marion General Hospital.
Arnold was born on August 7, 1925 in Mousie, KY to the late Elihu and Myrtle (Wicker) Triplett.
Arnold married Betty Castle on January 25, 1947 and she survives.
Arnold proudly served his county during World War II, as a sergeant in the Army. He fought and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. After weeks of recovery he continued in service of his country in the Army Air Corp. He will be remembered for his Patriotism, love of his family, and hard work ethic. He was a member of The VFW, DAV, and a founding member of Genesis Church here in Marion.
Arnold worked for 33 years at The Marion Power Shovel in order to provide for his family, and to be able to help others who were in need.
Arnold enjoyed gardening, camping, and fixing anything, even if it was not broke.
Arnold will be deeply missed by wife, Betty; children Arnold Ray (Terry) Triplett of Marion and Ina Triplett-Hughes; grandchildren, Keith (Kathy) Irey and Shane (Heather) Triplett ; great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Kristian Irey and Coral, Crystal and Kendra Triplett; and great-great grandson, Tayven Triplett. Also surviving are three brothers, Clyde, Paul, and Phil.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 4 until 7PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A funeral service will be held 10:30AM Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with Pastor Keith Irey officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery where the Marion County United Veterans’ Council will conduct Military Honors.
