Catherine Isabelle Darnell, age 99, of Marion passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at The Kindred Community.
Catherine was born June 7, 1914 in Caledonia, OH to the late Cornelius and Catherine Georgia (Tedrow) Berridge.
Catherine was a 1932 graduate of St. Mary’s School. She married William E. Darnell in August 1946; he predeceased her on November 23, 1984. Catherine worked as a house keeper for several years and later retired from The Plaza Bowling Alley. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she cleaned and sang in the choir for many years.
Catherine is survived by three sons, Michael W. Darnell of Marion, Thomas E. Darnell of Columbus, and Robert C. (Roberta) Darnell of Mathews, NC; grandchildren, Heather (Andrew) St. Jean and JR Darnell, great-grandchildren, Austin and Aubrey; step-grandchildren David and John Wargowsky and Sharron and Dennis Boyles; and sister, Lucille Reamy. Catherine was predeceased by brothers, George, Frank, Donald, Lawrence “Gene,” Robert, and John; sisters, Joann Mull and Mary Koontz, and stepchildren, Floyd Darnell, Donna Thomas, and Betty Boyles.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7PM on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Friday, April 11, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Thomas Buffer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
