Virginia Mae (Page) Geib of Marion, Ohio, died peacefully at home embracing a quiet moonlight evening on Wednesday evening, April 16, 2014, holding the hand of her loving husband of almost 60 years, Doug (“Skip”), and surrounded by other members of her adoring family.
In addition to Doug, Virginia (“Ginny”) will be dearly missed by her sons Douglas G. Geib II (Monica) of Brecksville, OH with grandchildren Grant (Stephanie), Benjamin, and Brandon; Stephen M. Geib (Sandie) of Springboro, OH with grandchildren Stephen (Sytease), Emily (Benjamin), and Kaitlyn (Jason); Victor M. Geib (Bonnie) of Bellefountaine, OH with grandchildren Victoria and Sarah; and her daughters Aleta E. Geib (Edward San Nicolas) of Marion, Ohio; and Sonya R. Dawson (Dan) of Seven Hills, OH with grandsons Danny (Robin Tanamachi) with great-grandchild Danny 3.0 and Grant (Tori) with great-grandchildren Emma, Ephraim, and Noah.
Virginia was born on January 18, 1935 in Printer, West Virginia to James and Vinnie Page (Blake) and is also survived by her sisters Frances Flournoy (Bill), Freda Thompson and Irene Wunderle (Dave), brothers Charlie Page (Nancy) and Jim Page (Nancy), brother-in-law, Don Geib (Betsy) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Jessica Geib, brother-in-laws James Thompson, Victor “Sonny” Geib, and nephews James Thompson, Jr. and George Geib.
Virginia was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Central Christian Church in Marion, OH. She was a 1953 graduate of Chester-Franklin High School in Chesterville, OH and a graduate of Marion Technical College in 1999 with a degree in accounting. She was employed for many years at Swink Advertising and Campbell’s Supply.
Virginia was a dedicated parent volunteer for the Marion Cadets and Marion Jets and became the first female president of the Cadet’s Parent Organization. She lead the initiative to restore the Marion Cadet’s Drum Corps during 1975, leading the initiative “The Cadet’s are Alive in 75”. Virginia was also an active volunteer for the U.S. Open Drum and Bugle Corps Competitions in Marion, Ohio during the early 70s.
Virginia was dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of the Page, Blake and Geib families, devoting her time to the collection of historical memorabilia and family genealogy, including traveling with her husband Doug throughout the United States and internationally to England, Ireland, Wales and Germany to visit libraries, churches and extended family to verify and document family history. Members of her beloved family intend to continue this rich legacy in honor of all the sweet memories that Virginia left for so many members of her family, her friends and others that she touched throughout her wonderful life.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday, April 21st, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville. Also, a memorial celebration of Virginia’s life will again be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Merlyn Winters officiating.
