Caregiver Connections to Discuss Differences between Age-Related Brain Changes and Dementia

The Marion County Council on Aging will be hosting Caregiver Connections on Thursday, May 1, 2014 with special guest speaker Dr. Michelle Stokes. She will discuss the differences between normal, age-related brain changes and dementia.

Dr. Stokes is the Director of Senior Health Services with the Gerlach Center for Senior Health. She will also describe the complete geriatric assessment process that the Gerlach Center, located in Columbus, uses to assess a person’s functional ability and physical health.  This assessment is then used for the development of treatment plans and coordination of care.

Caregiver Connections is a quarterly meeting sponsored by the Marion Council on Aging to provide support and education for local caregivers and others interested in issues of caregiving and dementia.  There is no charge to attend, but reservations are limited and necessary.

This event will be held at the Council on Aging office, located at 125 Executive Dr.  Since the meeting takes place 11:30 am – 1 pm, lunch will be provided through the generosity of Kingston Residence of Marion.

For reservations, call the Council on Aging at 740-387-0401.
