Anna Sue McCloud, age 74, of Prospect, Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 3:25 p.m. in her residence surrounded by her loving family after a 7+ month courageous battle with brain cancer.
She was born on April 6, 1940 in Grethel, Kentucky to Edgar and Pearl (Tackett) Hunt.
Sue later moved to Drift, Ky. where she spent her childhood. In 1958 she moved to Marion, Ohio from Kentucky with her parents.
On June 20, 1959 Sue married the love of her life, Malcom McCloud, who survives, and moved to Middletown, Ohio. It’s in Middletown where both their children were born. They later moved back to Marion in 1966 and then moved to rural Prospect in 1971.
A woman of faith, Sue was a loving member of Grace Baptist Church and a member of VFW Women’s Auxillary Post 7201.
Surviving along with her husband of 55 years are a son; Mike McCloud of Marion, Oh., a daughter; Pam (Terry) Lowe of Waldo, Oh., 3 grandchildren; Tyler (Brittany) Lowe of Waldo, Oh., Colin Lowe of Waldo, Oh., & Lindsay McCloud of Wahiawa, Hawaii, 4 brothers; Ralph (Faye) Hunt of Prospect, Oh., John Ed (Sharon) Hunt of Prospect, Oh., Tommy Jay (Kari) Hunt of New Bloomington, Oh. & Windell (Margie) Hunt of Marion, Oh., a sister; Margaret (Leo) Gilliam of Marion, Oh., many nieces & nephews, and a longtime friend; Linda Millington. Sue also was blessed to have loving brother and sister-in-laws and nieces & nephews in the McCloud family.
She was a homemaker for many years and then started at McDonalds on North Main Street in the early 70’s, working just a few hours a day while her children where in school. As her children became older, she started working more and was eventually a Shift Supervisor. In 1977, she started working at Whirlpool and retired from Whirlpool in 2002.
Sue was one of the most loving, caring and generous people that you could meet. She loved her family more than anything. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Not only did she love her husband, children, and grandchildren, she also loved her parents, brothers and sisters, her nieces and nephews, and her her husband’s family. She was definitely a one-of-a-kind and a favorite of everyone.
Sue enjoyed watching her grandson’s football, baseball, and basketball games while they were growing up. There was rarely a game she missed.
Sue enjoyed cooking for her family. In fact, one of the favorite family gatherings was for breakfast where she would make her famous biscuits and gravy. Her grandchildren would make calls to grandma and say ” Isn’t it about time for some biscuits and gravy”. The family will remember their last breakfast of grandma’s biscuits and gravy only 6 days before her sudden illness.
She was also an avid bowler and loved the game. Many weeks she would bowl in 3 different leagues. In fact, her last time bowling was only 4 days before her illness hit her so suddenly and unexpectedly. The family would try and schedule a bowling outing over the holidays and “grandma” would beat her grandchildren every time.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Grace Baptist Church on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Pastors Nick Worden and Bill Middleton will be officiating.
