Ezra Franklin Drake, 92, of Marion

Ezra Franklin DrakeEzra Franklin Drake age 92 of Marion, Ohio passed into everlasting life to be with his Lord and Savior on May 15, 2014.

He was born July 4, 1921, in (formerly named) Agosta, now New Bloomington, Ohio to the late Bain E. & Bertha E. (Schaber) Drake. He attended schools in New Bloomington, Ohio and Mt. Victory, Ohio, thru the 8th grade. He quit school to help on the family farm.

On November 1, 1946 he maried S.Joan Angles, she passed on September 3, 1984. On February 8, 1986 he married Lorene Bussey, she passed on May 27, 2007.

Ezra retired in 1983 from the Marion Correctional Institution as a correctional officer after 12 years. Before that he was employed at Buckeye Potato Chip Company in Marion for 20 years, Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Marion for 10 years, and farms near Larue and New Bloomington, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, home gardening and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy E. Drake Orr and her husband Danny of Iberia, Oh., his son, Perry C. Drake of Marion, Oh., one granddaughter, Amy Orr Parker and her husband Brock, of Marion, Oh., three grandsons, Jason M. Drake and his wife Holly, of Westminster, Md., Robert D. Orr and his wife Tabatha, of Richwood, Oh., Sean M. Drake and his wife Melinda, of Larue, Oh., eleven great grandchildren, Jordan Drake, Daphne Parker, Kaycee Drake, Sarah Drake, Ashley Orr, Robert Orr, Jr., Trenton Drake, Dannyelle Drake, Kayla Robinson, Cody Robinson and Lydia Stahl Robinson. And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ezra was preceded in death by his parents, Bain and Bertha Drake, his son, Kevin E. Drake, his sister, Vena Mae Oldaker and a granddaughter, Tracy Dawn Orr.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 23, 2014 @ 10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Middleton officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
