Colby Lee Smith, age 31, of Waldo passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 9:15 a.m. in his home after a long, brave, and courageous battle with heart disease.
He was born on March 22, 1983 in Marion, Ohio to William L. and Rebecca J. (Virden) Smith. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives along with her companion; Cal Lamb.
Throughout his battles with heart disease, Colby always kept his sense of humor. He was employed as a guard at Whirlpool Corp. for a short time and went on to work as a landscaper for both McCoy’s & E.E. Johnson until he was no longer able to work.
Surviving along with his mother; Rebecca & Cal Lamb are a brother; William Shane Smith of Marion, Oh., grandmother; Dorothy Hudnall of New Bloomington, Oh., a nephew; William Riley Smith of Marion, Oh., and several aunts, uncles, & cousins including a special aunt; Patty Shaffer of Marion, Oh. Colby was preceded in death by his father; William L., grandfather; Floyd E. Smith, and grandparents; Richard & Mary Virden.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the LaRue Cemetery. Officiating will be Mike Jenner.
