Love INC will hold their annual Tag Day from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Walmart, 1546 Marion-Mount Gilead Road in Marion. On this day, Love INC will be reaching out to the community and sharing what they do. Also, donations will be accepted to further assistance to those in need in the Marion community.
Love INC (Love In The Name Of Christ) is a non-profit Christian organization that works with local churches to engage in ongoing positive relationships with people in need to encourage them in faith and to develop resources to improve their own situations.
Love INC is a national organization with more than 157 affiliates across the US, with 9 of those in Ohio.
Randy Dawson, Board President of Love INC, said the core of the organization is the clearinghouse. This is staffed by volunteers who answer calls, listen, assess and verify needs, pray with the person and then proceed to meet the need by referrals to the appropriate church, individual or community agency. If further ongoing spiritual care is needed, the person is referred to a growing network of chaplains, pastors and faith leaders who are committed to ministering with the person.
Dawson explained that the ministry, with the support of partnering churches, private donations and small grants, strives to offer unduplicated services and products such as diapers, personal care items, and funds for out of town travel to medical appointments, prescriptions, other medical needs, special assistance for those 60 and older, many miscellaneous requests such as food and clothing, as well as the “Hauling Hope” furniture ministry. Its most recent addition is budget counseling.
“Love INC’s role with the Marion area churches is to help them mobilize members to be the hands and feet of Christ,” Dawson stated. “This is done through helping the church establish a GAP ministry (an outreach that fills an unmet need to “gap” in community services that is currently not being met sufficiently) or support an established church’s ministry by providing a service or product that is of help to people in need.”
The Love INC clearinghouse simply serves as a tool to help churches when they receive requests from the public.
Dawson said a typical scenario would be:
A church gets a request for help, they refer the person to Love INC, an application is taken along with an interview, prayer and referrals to appropriate churches, individuals and agencies will the follow.
“Love INC is about building relationships with those in need and treating all with value and dignity,” said Dawson.
