Phyllis Ann Doup, 67 of Lakeview, formerly of Richwood and Marion, died Friday, June 27, 2014 at her home. She was born March 22, 1947 in Marion to the late Clayton and Daisy (Richardson) VanGorden.
On April 27, 1968 she married James Doup, and he survives in Lakeview.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who doted on her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. A kind and gentle soul, Phyllis always had a positive outlook on life. She was a person of strong faith and always kept her Bible near.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amy (Jack) Kirby, Richwood; two grandsons, Nathan (Brittany) Kirby, Prospect; Tyler Kirby, Richwood; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Kirby, Prospect; three brothers, Richard (Carol) VanGorden; James (Goldie) VanGorden; John VanGorden, all of Marion; three sisters, Mary Sherman; Gloria Meddings; Debbie (Tom) Jolliff, all of Marion; and her faithful dog, Chloe.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Richard VanGorden officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the service, beginning at noon.
