MARMET Makes “Major” Drug Seizure

drug seizure 140828The MARMET Drug Task Force said they made a “major” drug seizure on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 when detectives made a traffic stop on State Route 4, just south of Barks Road. During the stop at about 11:30 a.m., a passenger in the vehicle, Anthony T. Washington was arrested on multiple charges.

Washington, 19 from Detroit, Michigan, was charged with Possession of 24 Ecstasy pills (3rd Degree Felony); Possession of 12.7 grams Crack Cocaine (3rd Degree Felony); Possession of 13 grams of heroin (2nd Degree Felony) and Possession of 2 grams Marijuana (Major Misdemeanor). Detectives report that these drugs have a street value of approximately $4,200.

Washington was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges.

“We continue to stand with the community against drug task traffickers. Marion’s residents and its law enforcement officers are making strides together to make Marion a better place to live,” said Marion Police Chief Bill Collins in a media release.
