Betty Jo Webb, age 81, of Marion passed away on September 8, 2014 a 4:40 p.m. at Heartland of Marion.
She was born on June 18, 1933 in Lumberport, West Virginia.
Betty Jo married Robert O. Webb on April 13, 1952 in Oakland, Maryland.
Betty Jo was a retired elementary school librarian from Marion City Schools. She worked at Silver Street Elementary School for seventeen years. Her passion was working with young children and enriching their lives through the wonders of books.
Betty Jo was actively involved in the Marion community. She was a sustaining member of the Jr. Service Guild, the Marion Follies, and Epworth United Methodist Church.
After retirement, Betty Jo made it her mission to single-handedly keep both Elder-Beerman’s and Kay Jewelers in business, owing to her impeccable sense of style and taste.
The beloved wife and mother is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, her son, Dr. Robert Mark Webb, of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Pamela Webb Potter, Major, (Ret), (James) of Tarpon Springs, FL; their five grandchildren, Heidi, Shawn, William, Arielle, and Ryan; and their two great-granddaughters, Aimee and Zoe.
She was our faithful lantern when our path was dark. When we needed a fire lit, she always was our spark. (Heidi Sullivan-granddaughter).
Family members will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Hoffman and Chaplain Pam Lamb-Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.
